In a land of myth and time of magic the destiny of a great kingdom rests on the shoulders of a young boy. His name is Merlin.

Born with magical abilities beyond the understanding of his elders, Merlin is sent to Camelot to live with Gaius, an old family friend and the court physician in hopes that Merlin will learn to control his magic and use it for good. Magic is banned from Camelot at this time by decree of the king, Uther Pendragon. After a mysterious happenstance with a vengeful sorceress, Merlin saves Prince Arthur's life and Uther awards him the position of Arthur's manservant. As Merlin fights every day to keep his identity a secret, he discovers a destiny that he never imagined.
